Privacy Policy

KEYD is built to do one thing — tell you the key and tempo of the music playing in front of you — and to do it without collecting anything about you. This policy explains exactly what the app does and doesn't do with your data.

Microphone and audio

KEYD uses your device's microphone to listen to music that is playing nearby so it can detect the key and tempo. This analysis happens entirely on your device, in real time. The audio is processed moment to moment and then discarded — it is never recorded, saved, or transmitted by the app.

KEYD only listens while you have the app open and analysis is running.

Track recognition

If you use the optional track-recognition feature, KEYD uses Apple's ShazamKit to identify what's playing. To do this, a mathematical signature of the audio — not a recording — is sent to Apple's music-matching service, which returns the track's title, artist, and artwork. This request is anonymous and is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. KEYD does not attach any identity to it.

Your saved library

When you save a track, KEYD stores its details — name, key, tempo, and any edits you make — locally on your device. This library never leaves your phone and is not accessible to us or anyone else. Deleting the app removes it.

What KEYD does not do

• No account or sign-in is required, and none is offered.
• No analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs are included.
• No personal information — name, email, contacts, location — is requested or collected.
• No data is sold or shared with third parties for marketing.

Children's privacy

KEYD is a music-utility app suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal data, it collects none from children.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices ever change, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
